The meeting day arrived: showtime to bring gratitude between teammates: Agile team and I joined previously with Engineering Manager, explained to him our intention to use Kudo board with all the team but with the additional ingredient that we asked him: “ please ask for a special meeting to the whole team as an extraordinary session and don’t bring details about the space objective”.

I used this practice with a little bit of “red hot chili pepper”.

When you join a big team not looking for solving a technical or project issue, not to think about a way to make the project run faster, not to discuss a new solution, just put them together to say thanks to each other is one of the happiest moments you could experience at work so this is the root cause or the reason why I decided to use Kudo boards: make the team feel happy showing their gratitude to each other and feed myself from their happiness through an easy and fresh meeting that helps to consolidated communications bridges inside a team. Cards with the messages: “thanks”, “very happy”, “well done” and “congratulations” were openly shared within our engineering team. To all my readers, let me tell you something, it is far away from the simplest but at the same time one of the most powerful tools I have used in my career as part of a team: it´s widely known and recognized, and they are called: Kudo Boards. Just look for a space, bring your teammates together and create an environment to allow everyone to say thanks to whoever they want to! Management 3.0 designed cards to facilitate the process and they have been the supporters for the thanks space we recently created in our team.

KUDOS BOARDS HOW TO

In this brief post, I will tell you how to do it and how it was my experience when I decided to put it into practice. Stop it, start reserving some time to say thanks to those who use to be very supportive with you at work. Normally we reserve our time to execute priority tasks that help us to reach our business goals and making our team succeed at the end of the day & that’s amazing but, do you reserve time to show gratitude to your teammates? Probably you are one of those guys who use to say: “I don’t have time for it” or “I will do it tomorrow”. Time flies on daily job basics: a common day goes around several meetings, reports, and making the work done properly.
